Geoclass for iPhone & iPad
Privacy Policy

Prepared for the iOS release: 25 October 2026.

This policy applies to Geoclass for iOS/iPadOS, provided by Edip Ahmet Taskin, Ireland. For privacy requests and support: geosoft66@gmail.com. It describes the iOS app; the Android policy is linked above.

At a glanceYour privacy choices and requests

1. Projects, files and local storage

Geoclass stores coordinates, points, lines, areas, project files and preferences in its application storage. It does not automatically upload your projects to a Geoclass-operated server. Imports are processed on the device. When you choose Files, iCloud Drive or another document provider, that provider may process the files you select. Exporting, sharing or opening information in another app sends it to the recipient/service you choose. Your device backup settings may include app data; exported files and provider backups exist separately.

2. Location, online maps and downloads

When you request your current coordinates, the app uses location permission while in use. You can decline or change this in iOS Settings and still use features that do not need a position fix. The app does not operate a server that receives your GPS history.

Street maps use OpenFreeMap. Online map requests reveal connection information, including your IP address and requested tiles/areas, which can indicate the region being viewed. The provider's policy explains its logging and CDN practices. Satellite imagery is not enabled in this iOS release.

Optional coordinate-grid downloads connect to the PROJ data CDN; requests identify the chosen grid and disclose network connection information. An external map service receives coordinates when you explicitly choose to open them there.

3. Ads and privacy choices

The free app uses Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform. The app requests non-personalised ads. Google's SDK may process IP-derived approximate location, identifiers, ad interactions, crash/performance information and other advertising data for ad delivery, measurement, security and related purposes. This is separate from your local survey database. Read Google's iOS SDK disclosure and advertising privacy information.

Advertising privacy messages and available choices depend on region and the configured consent rules. Where available, reopen Privacy Settings in the app to review your choices. Optional processing that requires consent must have that consent; reading this policy is not consent. The current iOS app does not request the advertising identifier through an App Tracking Transparency prompt. Location permission, advertising consent and Apple's tracking permission are distinct controls.

4. Ad-Free purchases

Lifetime Ad-Free is an optional one-time, non-consumable App Store purchase. Apple handles payments, payment-account information and refunds. Geoclass uses verified StoreKit product/transaction and entitlement information locally to recognise ownership and disable ads, including automatic checks after launch and return to the app. There is no Geoclass purchase-verification server. Recognition after reinstall depends on the Apple Account and StoreKit availability. See Apple's privacy information.

5. Diagnostics, support and this website

The app does not add a separate Geoclass analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Apple's platform diagnostics follow your Apple sharing settings. Google's advertising SDK diagnostics are separate. For TestFlight beta testing, Apple automatically shares beta crash/usage information with the developer; feedback may contain identifying details. See TestFlight & Privacy.

If you email support, we receive your email address, message and attachments through Gmail. We use them to answer the enquiry, investigate the reported issue or handle your request. Do not send passwords, card details or unnecessary private survey coordinates. Diagnostic reports that we access or download are used for troubleshooting and reliability.

The privacy and materials websites use GitHub Pages; GitHub receives technical visit information, including IP addresses. See GitHub's privacy statement. This page adds no analytics or tracking scripts.

6. Retention and deletion

Deleting local data does not cancel or refund an Apple purchase. Apple manages its payment records.

7. Purposes, legal bases and international processing

Where GDPR applies, we process information necessary to supply requested support/purchase functionality to perform the relevant service, rely on legitimate interests for proportionate fault investigation and security, use consent for optional processing that requires it, and meet applicable legal obligations. A legitimate-interest basis does not override a consent requirement.

Apple, Google, GitHub and other providers may process information outside Ireland or the EEA, including in the United States. Their privacy notices describe applicable transfer arrangements and safeguards; see Google's transfer information and Apple's policy. Contact us for information about processing under our control. No Geoclass purchase/project backend is described or used by this iOS release.

8. Your rights and choices

Email geosoft66@gmail.com and say that your request concerns Geoclass for iOS. Where applicable, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, object to processing, or withdraw consent without changing the lawfulness of earlier processing. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. We cannot retrieve a device-only project from a Geoclass server; we can explain local deletion/export controls.

You can also complain to your local supervisory authority, including Ireland's Data Protection Commission. Use iOS permission settings and the app's available advertising privacy choices for the relevant controls.

9. Audience, security and changes

Geoclass is a surveying/coordinate tool for general and adult users, not a service directed at children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us. This audience description is separate from Apple's content age rating.

We use reasonable safeguards for information under our control, but cannot guarantee absolute security. We update this policy when practices change and revise its date; where required we provide further notice or seek consent before new optional processing.
